Since the inception of STELIP in 2011, our annual Walk With Me networking workshop has been one of our flagship events, drawing dozens of representatives each year from across the social services. The 2018 Walk With Me was no different and attracted the largest crowd of attendees to date, with nearly 90 people attending and most of them for the first time.

Attendees listen to guest presenter Dr. Richard Zayed speak on trauma informed care.

With guest speaker Dr. Richard Zayed speaking  about trauma informed care, along with the addition of a subsequent panel of speakers made up of professionals and lived-experience individuals all speaking on the importance of eliminating barriers to service-access, the event was extended later into the afternoon than previous years. The expanded hours proved well worth it as such important topics of discussion were given the necessary time to be properly explored

The agency trade-show–the centerpiece of Walk With Me since the beginning–was again a highlight of the day and a benefit to many attending first-timers as well as returning participants. The role of the trade-show is to expand networks and referral systems between providers, and several participants reported making new connections with local agencies that will support their own work and the assistance they can provide clients.

STELIP wishes to thank everyone who attended this year’s Walk With Me, with special thanks to our presenter and panel participants. As with every other year, we couldn’t have done it without your interest and support!
