The STELIP team is very excited to finally announce our newest project!

From There to Here: Our Family Table Cookbook was created with the idea of sharing the stories of St. Thomas-Elgin immigrants through their food heritage.
The cookbook will feature at least 10 participants, whose immigrant stories vary in country of origin and time of arrival to Canada. Each participant will contribute at least three recipes that can be made up of an appetizer, a snack, a drink, an entrée, or a desert. The recipes will be written such that a home cook with basic culinary skills can undertake them.
Enjoying a hardcover, professional photography and design services, the book will have a light, airy style, that still evokes a sense of time and place particular to the participants. It will be a culinary celebration of some of the people that call St. Thomas and Elgin County home.
The St. Thomas-Elgin Local Immigration Partnership’s goal is to raise $15,000 to bring this cookbook to life, and we are asking for community members for their support.
This is an exciting opportunity for you to be a part of a quality published piece that will commemorate our community and its rich and diverse history. Both printed and e-book versions of this publication will be available to the public in 2020.
